Our journey with this magnificent breed began in 1987 when our family welcomed its first Afghan Hound from the Settebello kennel owned by Paolo Simeoni—a stunning blonde Afghan with a black mask named Qou.

In the following years, we had the pleasure of owning dogs from the Montecchio Val D’Era kennel of Renata Stacchini: a very playful female named China, along with two other Afghan Hounds—Gais, a red brindle male, and Sally, a beautiful and elegant blonde female with a dark mask. They were cherished companions in our lives.

In later years, we welcomed Siyah O’Gran Pamir De La Vallée De La Vézère “Shirk” and Sharak of Gran Pamir De La Vallée De La Vézère “Sarah,” from the Gran Pamir kennel of Cinzia Aymaretti Camia, followed by a gorgeous brindle female, Ralan Eylgar De La Vallée De La Vézère “Elga,” from the De La Vallée De La Vézère kennel.

With these remarkable dogs, we began our journey as breeders, collaborating with Cinzia Aymaretti Camia of the historic Gran Pamir kennel. Her unwavering support and guidance helped us along the way until we were ready to breed our first litter under the name of the breeder Tiziana Azzolini. From this litter, the first Afghan Hound born and bred in Italy to achieve the title of European Coursing Champion in 2009 was born, thanks to the dedication of his owners, Anna Foresto, who cared for Legolas, and Carlo Actis, who ensured consistent coursing training.

Kharasahnsky Afghan Hounds Kennel Tiziana and ShalymarIn 2009, we bred a very typical and balanced female, “Flyincloud Del Gran Pamir,” to the Italian Champion Xenos Kumano, bred and owned by Roberto Bongiovanni of the Xenos kennel. This pairing produced nine beautiful puppies, six of whom (four owned by us) became champions in various disciplines. Among them were the Italian and International Coursing Champion Watcher Of The Skies “Regina,” and the multi-champion in coursing and racing Spirit In The Sky “Kumy.” Kumy was the first Afghan Hound in Italy to achieve the title of Italian Racing Champion and also became an Italian and International Coursing Champion, as well as the 2013 A.I.A.L.A. Racing Club Champion.

Among their siblings, we proudly count the Italian Coursing Champion Like A Fine Skylark “Amy,” owned by Lucia Ceretti, and the International, Italian, and Slovenian Coursing Champion, as well as Croatian and Slovenian Beauty Champion, Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds “Shirley,” owned by Vanila Sguardo. Shirley also achieved excellent placements at the European Coursing Championships, finishing sixth in 2012 and third in 2013. We deeply thank their families for loving and caring for them and for allowing them to do what Afghan Hounds excel at—running and coursing (simulated hunting).

From the same litter, we kept two siblings: Kharasahn Great Gig In The Sky “Devil,” who, contrary to his nickname, had a very balanced temperament and was friendly to both humans and other dogs. With his solid build and proud carriage, Devil proved to be exceptional in shows, becoming an International, Italian, Austrian, and Slovenian Champion, with placements in Group 10. He also excelled in coursing, earning titles such as Italian Coursing Champion and numerous CACILs, most notably becoming Absolute Italian Champion and International Beauty & Performance Champion. These titles hold great significance for us, as we believe Afghan Hounds should possess not only the traits for beauty shows but also the functionality for which the breed was originally developed—hunting, which today is simulated through Lure Coursing.

Devil was used as a stud for a litter with Xendra Xendrella Del Gran Pamir “Jonie,” owned by Olga Palenga, an excellent runner and Top Lure Coursing Winner in 2009 and 2010. From this litter, three of the puppies became champions in Beauty and Coursing. At Kharasahnsky, we kept “Scott,” Multi Ch. Martin Mystere Del Gran Pamir, the first Afghan Hound in Italy to achieve the triple title of Italian Champion in Beauty, Coursing, and Racing, along with International Racing Champion, 2015 Racing Club Champion, International Beauty & Performance Champion, Absolute Italian Champion, and Italian Veteran Champion, with a second-place finish in the sighthound group.

For us, an Afghan Hound can embody Beauty & Performance, a concept best represented by our beloved “Blondie” As A Kingdom Beyond The Skies. Unique and extraordinary, she achieved numerous titles, including Italian, Austrian, and Slovenian Beauty Champion and Group 10 Winner. She also became an International, Italian, and Austrian Lure Coursing Champion and earned the prestigious FCI International Beauty & Performance titles, as well as Absolute Italian Champion. Blondie was the winner of five “Beauty & Performance” awards, starting with her first competition at the Beauty and Coursing Combined Event in Schaffhausen in 2011, where her passion and elegance shone from the beginning. Over the following years, Blondie won additional Beauty & Performance titles at events across Europe: Lotzwil (Switzerland) in 2011, Dolsko (Slovenia) in 2013, Krenglbach (Austria) in 2014, and Inzing (Austria) in 2015.

In 2016, Blondie was bred to Australian Champion Suliman Poetic Justice “Rymer,” bred and owned by Kerin, Kerry, and Rachel Hutchings of Suliman Kennels in Australia. From this pairing, we proudly welcomed seven exceptional puppies, showcasing the morphological qualities we wanted to incorporate into our bloodline. Once of age, these puppies began coursing with excellent results. Among them, “Granpasso” Kharasahnsky After The Goldrush, owned by Anna Foresto, stood out. Granpasso followed in the footsteps of his mother Blondie and uncle Devil, becoming Absolute Italian Champion, San Marino Beauty Champion, and 2018 Social Coursing Champion.

With us remains “Ethan,” Kharasahnsky Almost Like The Blues, with a correct, elegant movement, drive, and balance from a young age. Ethan has become a multi-Beauty Champion in both adult and veteran classes, a multi-Best In Show and Veteran Best In Show winner, and an International, Italian, San Marino, Slovenian, and Croatian Beauty Champion.
